About Allen
Current: Principal photography has wrapped on both my own film A Simple Question and Breaking Up (the ArtsUp! LA production of the Veteran's Short Film Project). See the ArtsUp! LA story here.

You can also read about my experience with that project here in the University CMS Quarterly Newsletter.
I'm in post-production for A Simple Question - shooting was a busy, but fun filled two days down in LA. What a great cast and crew. Find out more about my film, as well as supporting it, here.
Background: After growing tired of sailing around the world with the Navy, Allen settled on writing the next great screenplay. While teaching military leadership and ethics at UW, he took classes on screenwriting for film and television. His first short script, A Simple Question, a drama about a family dealing with the death of a child, earned an accolade at Hollyshorts and was a Semi-Finalist with Stowe Story Labs Inaugural Production Grant. That short is currently in post-production, directed by Allen Adkins, and produced by Du Nord Films.

Allen's also seen success in the Horror genre, a short called Vigilant, about a Naval Officer who races to save her crew after a shapeshifting monster infiltrates her ship. It was a 2025 Killer Shorts Quarterfinalist and earned a "Recommend." Read it here.

He is also working on a sci-fi comedy series, Saving Time, about a military project led by a by-the-book Army Officer stuck leading a B-Team group of actors on missions through time that seem have little or no bearing on anything.

He continues to write, as well as look for opportunities to act as a military advisor in film. He is an active part of different veteran's groups, such as VME and the Red Badge Project.
Allen lives in the Seattle area where he spends his free time with his wife and teenage daughter... hopelessly trying to get them to share his love of Trent Reznor, NIИ, comics and video games.
